Dirk NIEUWLAND Obituary
Passed away peacefully on 23 July, aged 83. Dearly loved husband of Rika (Riek) (deceased). Much loved father and father-in-law of Frank & Deirdre, Danny (deceased), Wendy & Tony and Rob & Anita. Loved Opa to his 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Cherished companion of Els. The funeral for Dick will be held on Tuesday 27 July at 1:00pm at Mangaroa Cemetery followed by a service at the Reformed Church of Hastings, 1234 Howard Street, Hastings, at 2:00pm. Dear Nieuwland family. I Only heard today, that Dick had gone to be with our Lord. I First met him, when I was just 4 years old in Scheveningen; the last time was a couple of years ago in Hastings.I do Remember our theological discussions and of course when he and his wife attended at our wedding at Kawerau in 1986. Nothing but good memories. The sadness is overshadowed by joy, knowing he is now safely in Jesus arms. May our Lord strengthen you all.

Back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, I was closely associated with Dick as we tried to get Christian Heritage into Parliament.
I quickly came to respect and admire Dick for his assiduous work for Christian principles, values and standards.
A great Christian man who has fought the good fight.
I'm proud to have been a friend of Dick.
Requiescat in pace.
