I had the privilege of working with Dean while he was NEST's Operations Manager. His passion for his work was evident and admirable. He was very knowledgeable of the NEST rescue operations, and worked diligently to ensure proper aircraft maintenance and safe operations. My deepest condolences are extended to Dean's family and his NEST co-workers.

Dean. We last made contact on 30/7/2017 for a catch up and we discussed the plane that you Kathy put together and how proud you both were of it and your plans to purchase more land etc.
The 1st January 2018 is not a good day for many people especially me as I remember recruiting you into St JOHNS a long time ago now, and the rest as they say is history.
I remember you picking me up from home in Hunterville in your new Morris 1100 hundred for a trip to Palmerston North on a Saturday night with friends when I needed a mate. I have not forgotten that day! Dean I am so proud of you and what you stood for and what you have achieved in your life, period. You are a fine man. Always remembered with love and friendship. What a good man leaves behind
him, is forever - Dean has left a legacy that lives with us forever in our memories, thoughts, the things he taught us, and the impact he had on our lives as a Paramedic, Crewman, Pilot and as he lived his life
In our grief we should take time to pause and remember of these times.
My thoughts are firstly with Dean's family and also with all those in the wider community through which he passed and touched us all.

Words can't convey how devastating Dean's tragic loss is to his family and the wider community he served. I well remember my days at PAS and Com days for WFA - Dean was always ready to share his knowledge, and was a skilled and respected paramedic. His thirst for adventure and using his skills to assist others was second to none. I remember his cheeky grin, sense of humour and his vital energy. These memories of Dean are part of the fabric of my life and I am grateful I had the opportunity to know him. My heartfelt sympathy to his family. Fly free....

Dear Aunty Muff and Uncle David.
Never is their anything adequate to say at such a tragic time for you, your family, and Deans family.
I was reminded of Dean when he was a child.. and although, as an adult we didn't meet, the highest regard of Dean then and now through the reflections of his life, friends and family goes to show the quality of the man is how he lived.. he lived excellently... very very sadly missed...
