Only just picked this up. Sorry to learn of my first cousin's passing. Had been in contact by email but we hadn't met for years. His father & mine were brothers & I have several photos of uncle Percy as boy & man. Errol Stephen Treseder. Alicante, Spain.

Sorry to read this news. Lost touch over the years but still feel the loss of this gentleman. Remember the big white bushy bearded man fishing in the mountains somewhere. X

Tena koutou and special greetings to Paul and Kate and their children in Sydney, Lesley in Sydney and Sal in Brisbane.

My name is Hilary, I´m Paddy´s sister. I am speaking of our family´s gratitude to David.

David and Paddy were together for the last years of their lives. They were well suited and shared many interests. While each maintained their own passions, they supported each other´s. David maintained his passion for flying and fly fishing while Paddy maintained her interests in drama teaching and theatre for as long as she was able. Together they shared interests in music and in travel. We are forever grateful to David for enabling Paddy´s interesting life to proceed for as long as it did.

An example of David´s thoughtfulness and care came to light in an email received this morning from Norman in the UK. Norman met David and reconnected with Paddy on the Greek Island of Symi, where David had taken Paddy with the intention of reawakening her cherished memories of that place.

David was an honourable person. Where others may have faltered or given up, David supported Paddy for as long as he was able; for quite a few years at home and then as a companion and faithful visitor at Dame Malvina Major and Whitby Rest Homes. We remain forever grateful.

Thank you David.

Thank you David, for the love you shared with my sister Paddy and for caring for her for as long as you could.

You welcomed me as family when I visited from Australia and sitting amongst the swirling clouds in your house high up in the Plimmerton Hills, your fireside was always warm.

Thank you for these gifts.

A dapper gentlemen indeed. Not many people fall into that category but your Dad certainly did. He was one of a kind & will be very sadly missed by you especially but also his church family. May you be uplifted by the Holy Spirit and feel the strength & peace you so much need now.

I was saddened to hear that David has died. I had the good fortune of being his legal advisor for almost 20 years prior to my retirement. Our meetings were always a delight often straying from the areas of advice to his enviable record as a senior pilot and, as noted by others, his skills as an angler. I will remember him with fondness and respect. Rod Gillespie.

Sincere condolences to David’s partner and family. David was a well respected and popular member and friend of many in the Turangi and Lake Taupo Angling Club and has been missed and asked after by Club members since his resignation a year or so ago. David was an accomplished fisherman and contributed to the Club environment always sharing his knowledge and stories. A memory plaque for David will be placed on our Memorial Board.
