It was sad to learn today of the death of our dear brother in law
Brian..we have always kept in touch from the year they emigrated to New Zealand....
Thank god for Skype and facetime.. we spent hours talking
about football and family..
we remember with laughter his visits to see us.. especially the one with Jean.. we couldn't stop
laughing playing cards.. Jean and
Brian just didn't quite realise
that Brenda and myself were
cheating like he'll.. tears were rolling down our faces..
I did manage to take Brian to
Old Trafford to watch a united
game.. also a nice journey down
the river and a meal out from
Manchester Centre.. was a great
day to remember.. we will miss him for sure.. he himself had so
many memories.. a sad loss to
us all. xxxxp

In remembrance of our friend, Bryan Davies

Bryan is an honorary member of the Destroyer USS ORLECK DD 886 Association and the only member of the Kiwi-Orleck division of the USS ORLECK DD 886, the greatest and most decorated American warship since World War II. USS ORLECK served the free world for fifty-three years under two flags from 1945 to 1998.

And fifty-three years ago, Bryan befriended a young sailor who in 1972 came to New Zealand aboard the USS ORLECK. Bryan and his wife had that sailor, Dave Wallace, stay with them in their home for several days and a friendship developed that has been carried over to the ship and her members for over half a century.

Bryan has touched the hearts of many of our people as he stayed in regular contact with many of us. I interviewed him at the opening night banquet in San Diego in 2014 when he traveled over eight thousand miles to be with us. (Bryan´s interview can be seen on line at USS ORLECK DD 886 2014 San Diego Reunion (opening night) - YouTube (6 minutes 57 seconds to 13 minutes 13 seconds).

We are so thankful for you, Bryan, who loved and cared for your American friends. We will sorely miss you but know that we will gather together again someday at that great and perpetual reunion with our Lord in Heaven.
