Bruce was a great artist and educator. His art classes at the teacher's college in Karori, or what was then the Wellington College of Education, were both artistic and practical. From Bruce I learned about so many ways in which art could be taught, most of which I used when I became a primary school teacher. Bruce was also a very special person, being quite moral as well as having a slightly borderline sense of humour. The latter peeped out only on the odd occasion. I'll always remember Bruce.
