Denis abd Carol Cree

April 21, 2024

Hello Anstis family. Its Denis and Carol Cree here. We were over the fence neighbours for so long at Waitarere. We loved both Dawn and Brian and thank you all for sharing them with us. We were so sad when we called into the home last week after 10 weeks overseas to find Brian had passed. He was so looking forward to hearing of our travels to Antarctica. A gentleman, a sports expert, a baker, a thoroughly nice guy, a friend. We will miss you Brian.

Thinking of all of Brian and all of his family and friends today, and over the time ahead...

I'm so sorry I couldn't be there to celebrate his life today, though I feel like Brian celebrated his life every year.

Brian and Dawn were neighbours of mine (and my family) at Waitarere Beach. I loved spending time with them both (individually and together), at their place or ours. Brian and I always talked rugby, and - on at least two occasions - I've called Brian from Melbourne to debrief a particularly interesting game (usually involving the All Blacks).

It was a treat to catch up with Brian, and to introduce him to my partner Jason, on our last visit to New Zealand in November. I'll treasure all of the conversations and time we spent together, but especially that one.

RIP Brian... love always,
Ange.

Sincere condolences and aroha to your whanau

Brian and Dawn were wonderful neighbour's at Waitarere Beach, who quickly became extended family.
My kids loved visiting and fondly called him "Grandad Brian"
One of their favorite memories was visiting Madison Resthome and seeing Brian play "Santa". He also loved kicking a ball around with Codi.
Brian always had plenty of time, hugs and laughs when we would visit. A wonderful gentleman with the biggest heart.
Brian had an amazing garden and thee BEST shortbread (thanks for teaching Dad, (Doug) the recipe!)

You will be missed but forever loved. Reunited with your beloved Dawn

May you rest in love

Brian was a wonderful man who loved his family, and sports. Was a committed supporter and worker for the Avanette's Marching
teams, A person who volunteered to all competitions for the Wellington, Hutt Valley Associations, North Island and National Championships, as a member of the Recording results of the Championships. A great card player with many marching friends. He was a true team player at what ever he took on in the community and always available to help people in the Community. Rest in Peace Brian you were a fantastic friend. Yvonne Palmer, David and Kath.

My condolences to the Anstis family. I remember Brian and his wife Dawn from the grocery store they operated in Tama Street, Alicetown. My family used to buy our groceries at the store until it closed and the shop front was merged into the existing residence. Another Alicetown identity from the olden days gone. May he rest in peace.
