Kathy and I were saddened and shocked to hear of Barry´s passing especially as he appeared to have recovered well from his recent illness when he attended the most recent Board meeting on May 29th. Over the years Barry has made a huge contribution to Parkwood as both a resident and Board member. He would always make considered and constructive comments and suggestions at Board meetings. His institutional knowledge and diplomatic expertise made him an integral part of the governance of Parkwood. Barry was Deputy Board Chair for many years, a role he relished and one he handled in his positive and constructive way. When adding to the residents´ report Barry would comment on his pet love, the choir. He was very proud of the choir and we would look forward to his updates.
Barry will be sadly missed.

It is with sadness that I send condolences to the family. To loose both your parents in a short space of time cannot be easy. But although Joan and Barry were united so closely in life, maybe it is a comfort to know that they too are together now in their passing.
I shall miss Barry. He was my musical mentor and we spent many hours playing flute together. I am very grateful for the encouragement and inspiration he gave me and I believe it meant much to us both sharing the love of music.
As a family, may your memories of Barry never fade, and be a constant reminder of all that was precious in your time with him.

I knew Barry from being on the Board at Parkwoods. He was an astute man and I always rated his comments and opinions. He had a good sense of humour, too, and could tell a good story. We will miss your Dad at our Board meetings. Arohanui to you, Barry's family. -Esther & Jonathan Kieft
