My deepest sympathy goes out to all his family at this difficult time. I fondly remember Barrie as fundamental in selecting me to represent New Zealand as a junior tennis player from the age of 14 in his role as a national selector. The opportunities from this gave me so many life lessons and experiences which changed my life. I'm certain Barrie will be missed, as I recall him as a gentle, supportive and community orientated person who gave up his time for others and always came across as a positive person. RIP

So sorry to hear of Barrie's passing. He has been a longtime friend. I have known Barrie since we both played in the 1957 NZ Junior Tennis Champs in Gisborne. Remembering Barrie and Marge today and always.

Faye and my condolences to Tony and Karen at Barrie's passing away.

Faye and my close friendship with Barrie and Marj go way back to the early 1970's. Barrie was not just a great family friend but a close confident in all our years of playing and administration of tennis. It was the same with our business career's as Reg. Surveyors and both being partners in our engineering/surveying/planning firms. It was this association that led Barrie to suggest the idea of a tennis club at Maungaraki which we achieved in 1973 secured by Barrie's negotiation skills with the HCC. Barrie's personal contribution to management of the NZIS Consulting Surveyors in the 1990's was significant. Barrie's management involvement with NZ Tennis and administrative support of HVT and squash club at Mitchell Park was well recognised by his QSM award. Such an award however goes only so far in truly recognising Barrie's personal contribution not only to his sport at a local and National level but his business management contribution - there would be so many stories that would initiate a book. A great guy.

Our love to Karen and Tony
