I used to live close by to this family and was acquainted with Andy, Vicky and Sarah, I found this post by accident and would like to send my condolences, Andy his wife Vicky and Sarah were always approachable and you could see that they would give you their attention in as much as they could, they seem to have this as a family value and it is quite a noble quality, I remember the flag pole they had, I could see it out my window, I wish the family to have a tranquil peace and remember the good times until you can feel stronger again.

I was saddened to learn of Andy's passing. I enjoyed Andy's company on numerous motorcycling tours and meetups around NZ. To celebrate the man and some of our adventures together I've plucked some photos into this album:

I hope these images convey a glimpse of the company we enjoyed and of Andy's friendship:

A couple of these photos fondly remind me of a hilarious excursion Andy & I had into Milford Sound one day. It was one of those 'steal the moment' days. Perfect weather. Perfect for a couple of lads with surveying backgrounds admiring mountain tops ... we just needed a chopper, & some landing spots ... which became possible as long as we could agree to join a Chinese touring party. Of course! It was hilarious.
My sincere condolences to family and friends.

Dear Muir family
We did not pick up Sarah´s Facebook message re Andrew´s passing until today. Thank you Sarah for tracking us down.
We were saddened to read of Andrew´s illness.
David & I have very fond happy memories of fun times spent with your dear mother & father during our younger days. We met through Sarah & Margot´s
friendship at Seatoun kindy. We remember sharing dinners, interesting conversations, parties & local dances with Vicky & Andrew over the tears.
Andrew was always a strong, quiet, gentle person. He was helpful & considerate & great company.
Our thoughts are with you with deepest sympathy at your great loss.

I would like to share Condolences with Andy,s family and friends. I knew him through the Technician Surveyors Assn and also being in the Dept of Lands & Survey. Very capable and conscientious operator - but always cheerful and a delight to be around. Proved to be very resourceful over many fields - but also had tremendous empathy and helpful when major change swept through the L&S Dept & Dosli - with redundancies and readjustment. Andy was in a position to help and he went about it in his very special way - and many were grateful for his counselling at that time. A very special person and fun to be involved with - I am sure he will be sadly missed and fondly remembered

My condolences go out to all the family. I remember him as Andrew when I was at Wellington Technical College many years ago. I can see him in front of me now at school. He was a bit taller than me and was always happy and full of life. He had a certain energy that I lacked. I admired him.

We will miss you very much Andy. Complex man with so many talents. Thank you so much for the amazing care and support that you gave me, and many others, in some very difficult times. With love from Meredith.
