Ali G I was so shocked to hear you are gone It has been too long since we caught up but I will always cherish the laughter, good times, and memories you left at high school travelling and rooming with you around NZ and Australia on athletics trips, the laughter on the long bus rides, playing golf at Makara (unfortunately generally losing to Crayfish Legs), and being given a ride on your roofrack of your old donga of a car in varsity days - My sincere condolences to your family your empathy, humour, and compassion made you a special person and you will be missed mate - Vale my friend Rest in Peace - Matt Turner ([email protected])

We are deeply saddened over Alistair's passing. Such a lovely guy who spoke fondly of his partner and family - our hearts go out to you at this devastating time.
We've been lucky to dive with Alistair on several dive trips and very much enjoyed his company. Will miss this kind, caring soul with his great humour and conversation.

Ali G - you always crack everyone up with your irreverant humour, immense generosity, and empathy. You don't suffer fools, but are so diplomatic about it.
You had a new dive torch for night dives last winter, and claimed it was so bright that the planes would misroute as they would mistake it for the lights on the airport runway - we were diving in Kau Bay. You took the piss out of a behemoth germanic at Poor Knight's who got all excited about nudibranches the size of a pinkie fingernail.
You dived Lord Howe Island, claimed it was paradise on earth, and threw said sand in my face when cleaning out your BCD after you returned, noting that I should be so honoured to be graced with LHI experience by proxy. Repeatedly.
You are one of the founding members of the 'Tuesday Night Nutters Dive' club, and a true and considerate dive buddy. Even while diving, you always shared about how proud you are of your children and partner.
Thank you for letting us be a part of your experience.
We miss you.

So sad to hear this. Deepest condolences to all family and friends. I worked with Dr Gray in Wellington for 2 years and over that time Ali G became one of my favourite people. He was a true gentleman and was a big supporter of me in my training and the difficulties I went though. I always knew when I saw his name on our operating list that not only I'd have a good day but most importantly my patients would be well looked after. Ali G you will be missed mate.

Monday's will never be the same. You were more than a colleague, you were a dearly loved friend. I never got to perfect my sandwich making skills, there was always to much salt not enough pepper and the lollie jar now remains full. I will miss you terribly. RIP until we meet again. Love KJ
