Alfred FAIRBAIRN Obituary

Well it´s very late to be adding this message to this list, we did not know Alf had passed till we were at the cemetery and saw his picture. I was an apprentice electrician when he built a house off Rimu Rd Raumati Beach, the same street I grew up in. Alf was an amazing person and totally the reason we bought our first home back in 1978 and that is our lasting memory of Alf. He worked for us and when we introduced ourselves at 19 and 17 years young Alf took a positive telling us he loved what we were doing and in his words... "Right. Let´s do this"...and we did. Love you Alf, Godspeed on your journey. Neville and Jo Parker.

To Alfred´s family, my deepest sympathy. We were neighbours growing up in Lonsdale Cres. and I have such fond memories of all the Fairbairn family, my thoughts are also with his sisters Barbara and Peggy and their brothers and their families.
I´m sorry I was unable to make it to his funeral.

Sorry, could'nt attend the service as we have been overseas.
It was great to catch up with Alf again at the 'Friday Pub' sessions and realise we had a bit of history, going back to the 'Mc Shoe Era!

We had intended to be at the golf club tomorrow but have received notice that the serviced apartments at Rymans in Waikanae are now in lockdown so cannot now attend. We will watch and support dear Joy and have only great memories of a fantastic man. Will miss the luncheons with Alf and Bill Pearson and the discussions re all sporting matters

Condolences to Joy and the family. Aorangi Road resident/babysitting memories and as a staff member at Hollings, Thompson & Fairbairn my memories of Alf are that of a gentle man who was always calm and a pleasure to chat to. RIP Alf.
