Many years on since we worked together to create SATIS - the information service for industry - based at the Wellington Public library, I still remember how satisfying it was to develop a service which brought together in-depth library skills, use of the new on-line services and rapidly delivery of documents around town via our 10-speed bikes! It was great fun, tongue in cheek, to apply for a bike allowance (1s 6d a week or something) which still was on the Council books even though it probably hadn't been claimed for 30 years!

Deepest condolences to Margaret and family. Alistair was a generous and kind soul, who helped to make our two years in Wellington a positive experience. May he rest in peace.

Alastair - as good man, with huge integrity and fun. I worked with him several times over the years and always enjoyed our subsequent conversations catching up. An exemplar to us all. Whanau - you can be hugely proud of him
