Margaret REID-MARTIN Obituary

REID-MARTIN, Margaret:
QSO, Very Reverend
Margaret passed away peacefully in Auckland, in her 96th year, lovingly supported by a family member. Widow of the late Rev Dave Martin, and first cousin of David and Marion Bennett (Wanganui), Jim and Julie Bennett (Whakatane). Mother-in-law of Glen and Ron Bryant and the late David (Auckland). Much loved by all their families. Margaret lived a very long and successful life, having been the first woman minister in the Presbyterian Church, and a former Moderator of the Church General Assembly among many other tasks well performed in the name of her Lord, Jesus Christ. A service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held at the Mt Albert Presbyterian Church, 14 Mt Albert Road, Mt Albert, on Saturday 25 August, at 2.00pm.

Margaret was a member of the choir at St.Andrew's Church, The Terrace,Wellington during my years as director of music in the 1950s. She was loyal and very supportive of the music and was a good friend. We were sorry to lose her when she entered the ministry, but she went on to her many years of devoted service to the church. Sincere condolences to Margaret's family.
