STANLEY, Joan Catherine
(née Haultain):
QSM, The New Zealand Suffrage Centennial Medal 1993. BA. Peacefully on 10 January 2019 at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, surrounded by her family. Aged 89 years. Matamata Historian and Writer. Dearly loved wife of the late David for 62 years. Much loved mother of Mary and Peter Irvine, and Jill Stanley and John Julian. Wonderful Grandma of Juliet and Hayden, Joanna and Jamie, Michael, Paul and Hannah. Loved Great-Grandma of Isaiah and Emma. Many thanks to the staff at Pohlen and Waikato Hospitals for their excellent care. A service to celebrate Joan's life will be held in the Rawhiti Room, Matamata Club, Rawhiti Ave entrance, on Wednesday 16th January at 1.30pm, followed by private cremation. Donations in lieu of flowers are welcome for the Pohlen Hospital Charitable Trust and may be left at the service or posted to PO Box 239, Matamata 3440. Heartfelt condolences to all family and friends.What an educated, fascinating, accomplished lady.We are related via our McLure Booth side.
I so wish we had met up however I have only recently learned of her in my genealogical research. I'm a member of the MyHeritage website (Ball family.)

To Jill and Mary and your families I only knew Joan for a year or so but what a lovely and knowledgeable lady she was. I will miss her Wednesday visits to the Tower. The Matamata historical Society will miss her of which I am the Secretary.
